ASSIGNMENT 10 MEIYU YU ID NUMBER:5429508
Now I am a Chinese teacher, so I think how to teach Chinese
and how to learn the basic knowledge is quite important.
I watch lots of webquest about Chinese language teaching
and I find this webquest is best one.
Pronunciation of Chinese Characters
by Kimmy lam,SFU. This webquest mentioned
lots of interesting Chinese characters teaching.
I really admire this author!
The first part is introduction: A lesson for you
to learn Chinese pinyin in order to know how
to pronounce Chinese characters. Developing
your knowledge of pin yin and accuracy of
pronounce Chinese characters.
Introduction
Mandarin Chinese Pinyin is a way to use
Roman letters to represent the pronunciation
of the Chinese characters. Pinyin is a very
recent system compare with the Chinese
characters. Pinyin is adopted in China in
1979, while the Chinese characters have over
5 thousand years of history. Each pinyin
syllable in Chinese can have 4 pos
sible ways to pronounce by varying the
pitch/tone. There are four tones in Mandarin
Chinese. One syllable, pronounced in
different tones will usually mean radically
different things. This fact makes the Chinese
Tone Training a fundamentally important part
of any Chinese learners.
Here is the Pin Yin Lesson for you to listen and
get a basic idea of accurate pronunciation of
each letter in Pinyin.
This part mentioned by the author is rather
clearly, short and logically. And it also attached
a video. Let the learner easy to watch .
understand and remember it! Pretty good!
The second part and the third part mentioned
by the author: Task
Pair up with a partner; you are requiring
choosing a vocabulary to make a question
(at least 30 words) in Chinese character
with pinyin. Your partner should prepare
a sentence (at least 30 words) in Chinese
characters with pinyin to respond the
question. Present this to the class.
The following links may help you to do the task.
1. Pinyin Table
3. Dictionary
Process
Step1:
Find a vocabulary you are interested
and define its meaning. Make a
question with it and a response
sentence for the question that you make.
Step 2:
Give pin yin and tone for each
Chinese character in your sentences.
Step 3:
Present the sentences to class.
The second part and the third part
mentioned by the author also clearly,
short, easy to understand and easy to
handle! It is pretty good to a beginning
learner! Because a new language is very
difficult to learn, you should understand
many ways or methods to master a new
language and also spent you a large number
of times to understand and remember it!
So this part I think is rather outstanding!
The fourth part mentioned by the author:
Evaluation
This is how your work will be evaluated.
This part mentioned by the author is quite
short! Because I am a Chinese teacher .so
I know how to evaluate a student in many
ways! Just my Chinese language teaching:
I should judge my students’ level by 4parts:
1. Listening 2.speaking 3. reading 4.writing
PA score +mid-term examination score= Finally score
So in my views, the author should mention
more than one way to evaluate student.
The real level can judge by many aspects.
We should open our eyes and let our
students get more real ability more than
knowledge. This is my suggestion! Thanks
for this author. I enjoy your webquest and
learn many things from yours! Thanks a lot!
